Alaska Halibut Season Is Over
Since the Alaska Halibut season is over, we changing a few of our dishes this week. Halibut season runs from March until November, and fishing for Halibut is suspended for the winter months.
Commercial Pacific Halibut fishing is regulated by the International Pacific Halibut Commission. Members from the U.S. and Canada meet yearly to review research, check progress of commercial fishery and make new regulations. This management is intended to allow maximum sustained yield of halibut.
At Sally’s we work closely together with our seafood purveyors to ensure we are doing the best we can to support sustainable fishing. The Monterey Bay Aquarium also has a lot of valuable information about sustainability in their “Seafood Watch Program” section of their website and is one of the many resources I use to decide what we can use for our menu.
Come on in and try our new dishes! The Moonfish is back and we turned it into a fabulous dish!
